Book Coach Mia P. Manansala, Plus Giveaway!
*** Giveaway closed. Congratulations to Zoe W., the winner! ***
I'm thrilled to announce that my author friend Mia P. Manansala has branched out into book coaching! What is a book coach? It's kind of like an editor and cheerleader all rolled into one. Or read Mia's definition, which is undoubtedly more accurate.
Mia recently did me the favor of critiquing an unpublished novel I have lying around, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that she is a thorough and insightful editor. That's no surprise when you consider how she's been a Pitch Wars mentor and is personally dedicated to improving her own craft. (Her debut novel, a cozy mystery, releases next year!)
To help celebrate Mia's new career, I've arranged with her to give away either a fifty-page manuscript review with in-document notes and coaching call, or an agent submission package critique, winner's choice. You can read more about Mia's services on her website. Please note, Mia's specialty is mystery and crime fiction, although she accepts most other fiction genres (no memoir or nonfiction, please).
Authors and aspiring authors, check out her website, and if you decide her services are right for you please enter the giveaway using the Rafflecopter below. The prize must be redeemed by December 31, 2020 and is nontransferable and nonexchangeable (additional rules are on my website). Good luck!

The Amicable Divorce is free for a limited time!
My chick-lit novel, The Amicable Divorce, is a free ebook download for a limited time. (Please verify all prices before downloading.)
- It's silly, and who couldn't use some escapist fiction right now?
- Although it's silly, the storyline touches upon a scenario that I believe will one day come to pass. Not sure if I can say much more without spoilers, so skip to the next bullet point if you prefer to be surprised. For the rest of you, I'll leave it at this: bioengineering.
- It's the first book I wrote (16 years ago now!), and while I'm sure it is incredibly flawed (I don't dare read it again), it will probably always be one of my favorites if only for sentimental reasons.
- Vanessa (the heroine) may or may not have more problems than you do, but you won't know unless you read it.
- It's free!

Be kind to yourselves.

Thanksgiving Book Sale and Giveaway
Today is Thanksgiving in the United States, and what better way to show my thanks for all of my wonderful readers out there than to do a giveaway? This week I'm featuring paperback copies of two fun mysteries: The Case of the Tabloid Tattler by Perry Kirkpatrick, and You Can Lead a Horse to Murder by Tara Meyers. Lucky for me, I have had the pleasure of meeting both of these talented authors in person.
Perry is also hosting a fabulous Black Friday book sale starting tomorrow, November, 29, and ending Monday, December 2, 2019. All participating ebooks are either free or $0.99 USD, and Perry, Tara, and I all have free mystery titles enrolled in the sale. Stop by and fill up your ereaders!
As for the book giveaway, read on to learn more about these wonderful books, then enter for a chance to win using the Rafflecopter at the end of this post. Entrants with a United States mailing address are welcome to enter for a chance to win one or both books. Everyone else can enter for a chance to win one of the featured books, with the understanding that if the Book Depository does not ship to the winner's country they will receive an alternate prize of my choosing. Please see my website for the full rules. Good luck!
The Case of the Tabloid Tattler by Perry Kirkpatrick

Someone is telling the tabloids about Ms. Thornblood's every move. Is it the housekeeper? the cook? the maid? the handyman? The detective hired to solve the case isn't sure. Things are looking pretty hopeless until Mia, his talented cat, offers to spend a week at Ms. Thornblood's as a spy.
With time running out, and an embarrassing secret about to be revealed, will Mia be able to save the day—and solve her first case?

Cats or Dogs?
Do you prefer cats or dogs? If you're familiar with my books, you probably already know my answer. But, in all honesty, I'm a dog fan too. And just because I don't have any dogs in my life doesn't mean I can't enjoy reading about them.
Speaking of which, I'm excited to announce that my friend Valerie Burns has a new book out this week in her Dog Club Mystery series. Coincidentally, I also have a new Paige Sleuth Cozy Cat Caper Mystery book out, which means no matter where you stand on the cat vs. dog debate you have a reason to celebrate right now!
Valerie was nice enough to send me a Kindle copy of her second Dog Club Mystery, The Puppy Who Knew Too Much, to give away to one lucky reader. This is a gift ebook delivered by Amazon.com, which I believe means you must be a United States resident in order to redeem it. Since I like to make my contests open to everyone, if the winner does not live in the United States I will substitute any ebook from the Cozy Cat Caper Mystery series as your prize. Please see my website for the full rules if you'd like, then enter the giveaway using the Rafflecopter at the end of this post. Good luck!
And here's a peek at the books Valerie and I have out this week:
Bark If It's Murder by V.M. Burns

But when Lilly tries to take a peek at her poodle, she gets a terrible shock—she witnesses what she’s sure is a murder. She thinks the victim may be the wealthy co-owner of Pet Haven. The police follow her lead but find no body, no evidence of a crime, and no video record. Starting to feel like the dog owner who cried wolf, Lilly decides to go undercover to catch a killer who may be hiding in plain sight . . .

Clean Kill in Cherry Hills by Paige Sleuth

Kat Harper's leisurely Sunday afternoon at her police detective boyfriend Andrew's house comes to an abrupt halt when a stray cat leads them to a dead body next door. Tragic as it is, nobody is surprised to learn the neighborhood hoarder lost his life in a mess of his own making.
Or did he?
The police soon rule Glen Havelin's death a homicide, but how do you narrow down the suspect list for a victim nobody liked? The deeper Kat digs, the more certain she is that Glen racked up more enemies than neighborhood code violations. But that won't stop the amateur sleuth from getting to the truth . . . not even after she's told her quest for "whodunit" might be putting her relationship with Andrew in jeopardy.
